Sandi Carver was the Portland Telegram Maine female Athlete of the Year in 1993 as this Jonesport -Beals graduate led her high school to its first women’s state title. A great all-round athlete, she was a dominating softball pitcher in addition to being unstoppable on the hardwood. After high school Sandi help elevate the University of Maine’s women’s basketball program to national heights along with teammates Cindy Blodgett and Amy Vachon . She helped lead her UMaine teams to four consecutive NCAA tournament bids; with her senior team producing a 21-9 record.
