A standout basketball player at the Hyde School in Bath, Tom helped lead the Phoenix to back to back New England Preparatory Athletic Council titles in 1982 and 83 before continuing his playing career at both Cleveland State University and Western Illinois University. He then returned to Hyde in 1991 as head basketball coach where he has had unparalleled success, including the 1997 Class D State Title.
